One dark night in a bedroom a little boy was writing a letter to his granddad when his mum came in and said it was bedtime. He went to bed, leaving his letter unfinished when he heard a scratchy scratchy noise, as if someone was writing.
I remember when I was just part of a boring old tree in Sweden when someone came and chopped the tree down then cut it into little logs and stood on the tree and I was racing down the stream and along the little waterfall then into a factory where the stream ended and were made into pencils, doors, floorboards and tables. Then I was flown to England and in an art shop with pencils, sharpeners ad toys that sang songs in the dark. Suddenly, we were moving to a house with a little boy who loved to write to his granddad and loved to draw pictures of him and his family.
Suddenly, the window burst open and the boy sat up immediately in fright. The door danced on its hinges and the paper flew out of the window into an extremely tall tree and the table was rocking so hard that the pencil rolled on the floor and in the crack of the floorboards. It was really dark and spooky because the pencil had never been in the floorboards before. The little boy was a bit upset that his pencil went underneath the floorboards and paper n the top of a really tall tree and stuck on it.
Seventy years later...
The little boy turned into a granddad with a grandson called Jack. One day Jack went round his granddad's house and granddad told him there was a pencil underneath his floorboards, and so he went home and fished out the pencil and woke other stuff like old wine, a coin and a paper clip.
Jack grew up and told his grandson James the same story to him.
